Project Scope
- Removal of 71,000 SYD’s of concrete and asphalt pavement
- 327,000 CYD’s of earth excavation and 370,000 CYD's of special embankment
- Placement of 361,500 SYD’s of aggregate base from 3 inches thick to 46 inches thick
- • Installation of 39,100 LFT of storm sewer, and 550 drainage structures
- Installation of 155,000 tons of hot-mix asphalt pavement
- Installation of 98,000 SYD’s of concrete pavement, including continuous reinforced concrete
- Construction of 33,100 LFT of new, updated style concrete barrier wall
- Removal and replacement of two six span steel beam bridges with concrete I-Beam bridges
- Removal of two single-span steel beam bridges and replacement with a double span concrete I-Beam bridge
- Drilling 33,100 VFT of 4” diameter holes, and installation of approximately 4,000 CYD’s of cementitious grout to fill coal mine shafts approximately 60 Ft. below grade
- Installation of a 100-foot tall spun concrete ITS camera pole, and installation of miscellaneous freeway and street lighting equipment
Project Details
I-94 in Jackson County from the M-60 interchange to east of Sargent Road (9.87 miles) will be reconstructed over the course of two construction seasons. Construction began in July of 2018 on the reconstruction and widening of the outside HMA shoulders. Work continued thru the winter of 2018/2019 on the eastbound bridge over the Grand River and Jackson/Lansing Railroad tracks, and the new eastbound lanes were completed in December, 2019 between Lansing Road and Elm Street. Work continued thru the winter of 2019/2020 on the westbound bridge over the Grand River and Jackson/Lansing Railroad tracks, and the new westbound lanes were opened to traffic in July, 2020. The project was completed in August 2020.
